How does ArmCare determine individualized pitch counts?Updated 2 months ago
The ArmCare App creates personalized pitch count recommendations by factoring in real-time data on strength, fatigue, and recovery, which goes far beyond generic age-based limits.
How It Works:
1. Baseline Setup
Every player starts with a PitchSmart guideline based on age.
Example: A 13-year-old = 95 pitch daily max.
2. Personalized Adjustments
Pitch counts are then modified based on the player’s test data:
Arm Score:
Higher score = more capacity, higher pitch allowance
Lower score = reduced pitch count
Strength-Velocity Ratio (SVR):
Low SVR = higher risk, fewer pitches allowed
Muscle Weakness Alerts:
Weak internal/external rotators, scaption, or grip = deduction applied
Recovery Status:
Watch Alert = -30 pitches
Warning Alert = 0 pitches recommended
Early-Season Rule:
First 3 outings use reduced pitch counts (e.g., 70% max in outing #1)
3. Strong Arm Certification
Players who meet elite strength and recovery benchmarks may earn:
Increased pitch counts
Shorter required rest periods
4. Rest Period Adjustments
Post-outing fatigue scores determine how many rest days are needed before the next appearance.
